This is a follow-up to my previous post about ubusuna shrines — the personal guardian shrines assigned to each person at birth.
Today, we visited our daughter’s ubusuna shrine! She was born in Tokyo, but her shrine turned out to be Tamasaki Shrine in Kujukuri, Chiba Prefecture. It enshrines Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto, and its black sanctuary building has a very dignified, prestigious atmosphere.
It was a Sunday, but the shrine grounds weren’t too crowded. We were even able to have a private prayer ceremony! What surprised us was that during the ceremony, a miko (shrine maiden) performed a sacred kagura dance — we had no idea that was part of the experience!
Over the past few months, each family member received prayer ceremonies at their respective shrines, and every one had a different atmosphere, energy, and ritual style. It was a truly precious experience.
After the shrine visit, we were starving — so we stopped at a local eatery and enjoyed delicious seafood from the Kujukuri coast!
With that, we’ve visited all of our family’s ubusuna shrines — mission complete! (Ha!)
Has this made you curious about your own ubusuna shrine? (Ha!) If so, look into it — you might be surprised where your lifelong guardian deity awaits!
Before You Visit…
Fair warning: our English is a work in progress! (Ha!)
But thanks to the magic of translation apps, we communicate just fine with patients from around the world.
Your body speaks a universal language — and that’s the one we’re fluent in.
